Despite these roadblocks, the students persevered, making their way to the graduation stage. The students said they earned this achievement for themselves and their families.
“I’m proud of myself,” Oliveri said. “That’s all I can say is I’m proud of myself.”
“I made my momma proud,” Carr said. “And I made [Dr. Deirdra] proud too.”
